How is Myopia Treatment Done?
Wearing contact lenses and glasses are treatment options. Excimer Laser method, on the other hand, cures the discomfort. The conditions required for laser treatment are as follows.
Being over the age of 18
Myopia number below 10
The eye number has not changed or has changed very little in the last year
Absence of diseases such as retina and Keratoconus
Not having systematic diseases such as rheumatism and diabetes
Hyperopia
In hyperopia, the light entering the eye is focused further back rather than falling on the retina. While farsighted people can see clearly, they have difficulty seeing close distances. Close vision is also clear in pediatric hypermetropic patients, as the muscles that help focus the lens work strongly. However, with advancing age, this focusing mechanism weakens and problems arise in near vision.
Astigmatism
Astigmatism is often due to corneal deformity. It is simply the state of the cornea in the form of an egg. This situation causes different refractions in the two axes and causes blurred or shaded (double) vision in the person. Cylindrical glasses are used for correction.
What are the causes of astigmatism?
Extends
Eyelid cyst, deformity
Scars due to previous infection in the cornea
Keratoconus disease
Presbyopia
Laser Treatment of Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism
Persons up to 8 degrees in myopia and up to 5 degrees in hyperopia and astigmatism are suitable candidates for laser eye surgery.
Laser eye surgeries have been successfully applied for the last 20 years and the results may differ depending on the technology used, the structure of the eye and the surgeon's experience.
The aim of laser eye treatment is to get rid of glasses and contact lenses. Some patients may have some defect in using glasses. A second laser treatment can be successfully applied to these patients.
Laser therapy is not suitable for pregnant women and nursing mothers. In addition, the glasses numbers of the patients who will undergo laser operation should not be changed in the last year, and the patient should not have an active eye infection.
What are the Risks of Laser Eye Treatment?
There may be dry eyes in eyes that have undergone LASIK and PRK operations. This can be prevented by using artificial tear drops for 3 to 4 months. Dry eyes can rarely be permanent.
