Typically, people begin experiencing symptoms of presbyopia after age 40. However, younger people can also experience blurred vision associated with the condition. Common symptoms include:

* Difficulty reading small print

* Fatigue from reading up close

* Need for brighter lighting when reading or doing close work

* Need for holding reading material at an arm’s distance to properly focus on it

More specifically when they are reading or on a computer. This is extremely common in those aged between 41-60. It is completely normal, as we age; the eye’s ability to focus becomes weaker.

ARE TRİFOCAL IOL OR INTRAOCULAR SMART LENS PERMANENT?

 Smart Trifocal IOL implants are placed in the eye through a one-time operation once and for a lifetime.

HOW TRIFOCAL IOL IMPLANTATION IS PERFORMED?

With the help of ultrasound, a clouded natural lens multiplies and turns into an emulsion, and then is removed from the eye through micro-access in the cornea.In the capsule, where the natural lens was previously located, a flexible intraocular lens is introduced through an individual injector, which independently unfolds inside the eyes and is firmly fixed. The micro-access is self-sealing; suturing after surgery is not required. The operation takes about 15 minutes . The patient does not feel any discomfort or pain, as the procedure made under local anesthesia.

ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR LENS REPLACEMENT SURGERY?

Among the contraindications to the operation to replace the lens can be identified:

* Serious Age-related macular degeneration (stage 3-4)

* Strabismus

* Diseases associated with a violation of the cornea shape

* Over 76 years old (brain adaptation)

ARE ALL TRİFOCAL /SMART LENS IOL  THE SAME?

* These may be the very latest technical advances, but they represent many years of development. Several major suppliers have their own version of trifocal(smart) lenses.

* Many surgeons expect trifocal lenses to be the future of customised vision. The results their patients are experiencing are encouraging, and more and more surgeons are now confident enough to offer trifocal lenses to cataract patients.

* Like with all innovative technologies, there are also a few things to consider when choosing a multifocal lens.

* If you suffer from eye diseases, such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy,diabetic macular oedema, or macular degeneration, you may not be a suitable candidate for bifocal or trifocal lenses. These diseases, even in early stages, may be incompatible with premium intraocular lenses. If you suffer from one of these diseases, you can discuss alternative options with your ophthalmologist.

* The patient's daily habits (reading a book, driving a car, spending a long time with the computer) are very important in lens selection. Even the patient's arm length can be important.
